As the year draws to a close, the OHPERA project reflects on an action-packed few months filled with milestones, collaboration, and progress. Following the General Assembly in Berlin and the Young Scientists Meeting, OHPERA held its 2nd Reporting Period Review Meeting on November 29, 2024. This videoconference brought together key stakeholders, including the European Innovation Council team, Scientific Monitors, and the Innovation Radar expert, to assess the project’s achievements and chart its path forward.
The review opened with a warm welcome from the EIC Project Officer, Antonios Fysekidis, setting the stage for a full-day agenda featuring presentations from OHPERA partners. Each Work Package lead shared their progress, challenges, and future plans:
- The Institute of Advanced Materials at the University Jaume I provided a comprehensive technical overview, with a focus on the development of photoactive materials and photoelectrodes.
- Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia, and the Institute for Solar Fuels of Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin reported advancements in catalytic layers, material modeling, and proof-of-concept device development.
- LOMARTOV highlighted the strides in sustainability guidance and validation.
- eChemicles and LOMARTOV jointly presented the extensive dissemination and exploitation activities, showcasing the project’s growing visibility and impact.
The meeting also delved into portfolio activities, management updates, and innovation potential, underscoring OHPERA’s alignment with Horizon Europe’s goals.
The review meeting served not only as a checkpoint but also as an opportunity to foster dialogue among partners and stakeholders. The EIC Scientific Monitors and Innovation Radar expert provided constructive insights, and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive. They praised OHPERA’s achievements in its second reporting period and expressed excitement about the project’s potential to drive innovation in green hydrogen technologies.
As OHPERA transitions into its third reporting period, the project is well-positioned to achieve its ambitious goals. Partners are already gearing up for the next Annual Portfolio Meeting, scheduled for March 2025, which will further strengthen the ties within the EIC Green Hydrogen Portfolio.
Stay tuned for more updates as OHPERA continues to innovate in sustainable energy solutions!
